Early Years

Welcome back to Term 4!

We hope you all had a lovely half term break. We just wanted to share with you some information for the new term and all the exciting things that we have planned!

Term 4 Theme

This term’s theme is ‘Down on the Farm’. Our focus book this term is ‘Cock a doodle poo’ which has already been causing lots of smiles and giggles with the silly sound effects!

We are planning a couple of walking trips to the Ardagh centre later in the term. The children will be visiting the allotments and planting their own vegetables with the support from the volunteer gardeners. It is a really nice opportunity to engage with the local community and experience outdoor learning together.

 RSE

The RSE focus for this term is ‘Life cycles’. We will be exploring lots of different farm animals and plants through sensory play. There will be opportunities for gardening in our Early Years outside area, water play in our pretend duck pond and using our creative skills to make butterflies and caterpillars and much more!

 Swimming

This term, your child’s swimming sessions are on a Monday morning. Please send in their swimming kit at the start of the week. Kits should include - swimming costume or swimming shorts, swim nappy, tegaderm (if required), 2 towels and shower gel.

Home-school contact

Please use the home-school diary or email either of us with any questions you may have or information you want to share. If you need to speak to us for any reason please phone the school office on 0117 353 3622.

If your child is going to be absent, we really appreciate an early morning phone call to the office by 8.30am, and a message left on the answering machine, as this greatly helps us plan our staffing. Thank you.

Reminder of what’s needed in school

  • Change of clothes kept in school, useful for any messy days.
  • A supply of pads (nappies), wet wipes and nappy cream if needed. We will write in your diary if these are running low.
  • Snacks and squash if your child needs these.
  • Clothes that are appropriate for the weather, especially during outdoor learning sessions.
  • If you have signed up to take home reading books, book changing day will be on Mondays. Please send in their book, reading record and bookbag on this day.

Earwig

We will regularly upload photos and videos onto Earwig so you can see what your child has been enjoying in school.  Please add any comments or upload your own photos to share with us, we love your feedback and seeing what you do together at home!  If you have any access issues please let us know.
