P2H

Welcome back to the start of a new academic year and our last term at Claremont. We have already been enjoying getting to know your children and having a lot of fun in P2H.
This term, we will begin with our All About Me topic, where we will focus on each student’s likes and dislikes, create some fabulous self-portraits, and think about all the people who are important in our lives.

After two weeks, we will move on to our theme for Terms 1 and 2: The Amazon.
In English, we will be exploring fairy tales and traditional tales, while continuing to develop our phonics skills and enjoy reading in a variety of ways.
In Maths, we will be focusing on shapes. We will think about how we can describe and sort different shapes, as well as how we can use them to build. We will also look for shapes in objects we see in everyday life.

In Science, we will be becoming scientists! We will use different equipment to search for and collect animals from a variety of environments created in the classroom. We will then learn how to record what we find.
In our PE lessons, we will be developing our skills through basketball. We will also be working on our gross motor skills through activities such as climbing, jumping, and riding scooters and trikes.
This term, we will be preparing the students for their move to Kingsweston. We will be making weekly visits to Kingsweston School on Thursday afternoons.
During these visits, we will take part in some Forest School sessions. Later in the term, we will begin introducing the children to their new classes and helping them to become familiar with their new school environment.
Our RSE topic this term is Relationships.

We will be thinking about families and friendships and learning about the importance of being kind, caring, and respectful towards others.
Kingsweston Transition Visit for Parents
There are two opportunities for parents to visit Kingsweston as part of the transition process:
- Tuesday 22nd September at 10:00am
- Wednesday 23rd September at 1:00pm
Home–School Contact
Please use your child’s home–school diary or email either of us if you have any questions, updates, or information you would like to share.
If you need to speak to us for any reason, please contact the school office on 01173 533622 (Henleaze Campus).
If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason, we would really appreciate an early morning phone call to the school office by 8:30am, with a message left on the answering machine if necessary. This helps us greatly with planning our staffing for the day.
Thank you for your support.
Reminder: What Your Child Needs in School
Please ensure your child has the following items in school:
- A change of clothes to be kept in school, which is particularly useful for messy or wet days.
- A supply of pads/nappies, wet wipes and creams, if needed. We will write in your child’s home–school diary when supplies are running low.
- Snacks and squash, if your child needs these.
- Weather-appropriate clothing, particularly as we will be spending time outdoors during our learning and Forest School sessions.
Earwig
We will continue to add photos and comments to Earwig to share what your child has been getting up to at school.
If you have any problems accessing Earwig, please let us know and we will be happy to help.
Lauren, Vicki and the P2H team.
