P5

As we enter our final term before the summer holidays,it's wonderful to reflect on what a fantastic year we've had together in P5. The children have thoroughly enjoyed our themes and sensory experiences, showing curiosity, enthusiasm, and growing confidence in their learning. This term we will continue to build on those successes through engaging stories, creative play and opportunities to develop communication and social interaction skills. We look forward to celebrating lots of achievements as we approach the end of the school year.

Term 6 Theme

For this next term we will be starting a new theme ‘Festivals, parties and funfairs’ This will include some new sensory stories such as ‘A trip to the Amusement Park by Noah Lukeman’, ‘Mr Men and Little Miss go to the festival’.

We will also be continuing to work on our Makaton signs focusing on signs around music, festivals, singing and using these within our stories. As well as our sensory and makaton stories we will be continuing with our music sessions, as well as Bristol Bears PE sessions / physio activities. We will also be continuing to work on our choosing through symbols and photos, IT skills through switches and exploration through play. We are also hoping to get to the Ardagh Centre for some life skills / gardening sessions. 

Therapists will visit our class on a weekly / pre-arranged basis. If you have any questions/ queries about your child you can contact the school and we will be happy to direct you to the appropriate therapist. 

Hydrotherapy

Hydro will be every Wednesday afternoon. Please send swim kits in for then, (including a swim pad / nappy and a spare towel). We are currently having to travel over to our Secondary site for hydro and are therefore only able to swim pupils with hydro stated on their EHCP.

We are continuing to use Earwig as the assessment and record platform throughout school and parental access will also continue. Earwig also has an extra feature where you can send us photos, comments or video's of what your child has been doing at home which we would love to see. If you have any questions about Earwig or viewing your child’s earwig observations then please let us know.

Please use the home-school diary or email either of us with any questions you may have or information you want to share. If you need to speak to us for any reason please phone the school office on 0117 3533622 (Henleaze Campus).

If your child is going to be absent, we really appreciate an early morning phone call to the office by 8.30am, and a message left on the answering machine, as this greatly helps us plan our staffing. Thank you. 

Reminder of what’s needed in school

• Change of clothes kept in school, useful for any messy days.
• A supply of pads (nappies), wet wipes and creams if needed. We will write in your diary if these are running low.
• Snacks and squash if your child needs these.
• Clothes that are appropriate for the weather, especially during outdoor learning sessions.
• If you have signed up to take home reading books, book changing day will be on Mondays. Please send in their book, reading record and bookbag on this day.
